Totem Training and Performance: Official Business Guide
Totem Training and Performance
Totem Training and Performance is an integrated physical therapy, strength training, sports performance, massage therapy, online coaching, and Muay Thai facility located in Bridgeville, Pennsylvania.
We help active adults, athletes, youth athletes, lifters, martial artists, and individuals recovering from injury move better, build strength, return to the activities they enjoy, and perform at a higher level.
Our model brings rehabilitation, training, performance, and recovery together in one facility. Rather than separating physical therapy from strength and conditioning, we create individualized plans that can progress with each person from pain or injury through long-term health and performance.

What is Totem Training and Performance?
Totem Training and Performance was founded by two Doctors of Physical Therapy and a strength coach who believed people deserved a more complete approach to health and performance.
Traditional rehabilitation often ends when pain decreases or basic function returns. Traditional fitness programs may not account for injury history, movement limitations, or the demands of returning to a sport or activity.
Totem was created to bridge that gap.
Our team combines clinical evaluation, physical therapy, strength and conditioning, progressive exercise, recovery services, and sport-specific coaching. This allows clients to receive coordinated support as their goals evolve.
A client may begin with physical therapy because of pain, transition into personal training as function improves, and continue building strength and resilience through an ongoing training program. Another person may begin with performance training, massage therapy, online coaching, or Muay Thai based on their needs.

Services
Concierge Physical Therapy
Concierge physical therapy provides one-on-one care with a Doctor of Physical Therapy. Treatment is built around the client’s symptoms, movement, training history, activity demands, and long-term goals.
The process may include a comprehensive evaluation, education, hands-on treatment, targeted exercise, strength development, load management, and progressive return to normal activity, training, or sport.
Totem’s physical therapy model is cash-based and out of network. This allows sessions to be structured around the client’s needs rather than the visit limitations of an insurance-based, high-volume clinic.
Personal Training
Personal training at Totem provides individualized, progressive coaching for people who want to build strength, improve movement quality, increase physical capacity, and train with greater structure.
Programs are designed around the client’s goals, experience, current ability, injury history, schedule, and available training frequency. Clients receive hands-on coaching, technique feedback, accountability, and planned progression rather than disconnected or randomly selected workouts.
Integrative Massage Therapy
Integrative massage therapy combines therapeutic and recovery-focused techniques based on the client’s needs.
Sessions may incorporate Swedish massage, deep-tissue techniques, neuromuscular approaches, and focused work for areas of muscular tension or soreness. Massage may help clients relax, recover between training sessions, address persistent tightness, and feel more comfortable moving.
Massage therapy appointments at Totem are available to adults age 18 and older.
Youth and Sports Performance Training
Youth and sports performance training helps developing athletes improve strength, movement quality, speed, coordination, confidence, and physical resilience.
Programs are age-appropriate and account for the athlete’s sport, training experience, developmental stage, current abilities, and competitive schedule. The emphasis is on long-term athletic development rather than exhaustion-based workouts or adult programs applied to younger athletes.
Online Training
Online training provides customized programming and remote coaching for clients who cannot consistently train at the Bridgeville facility or prefer to exercise on their own schedule.
Programs are delivered through TrainHeroic and are designed around the client’s goals, training experience, available equipment, schedule, and progress. Online clients receive structured workouts, progression, communication with their coach, and adjustments as needed.
Totem Muay Thai
Totem Muay Thai provides structured instruction in punches, kicks, knees, elbows, defensive movement, pad work, conditioning, clinch skills, and other elements of Muay Thai.
The program serves beginners learning the fundamentals as well as experienced students developing more advanced skills. Training emphasizes technical development, progression, conditioning, confidence, respect, and a safe learning environment.
Sparring and competition preparation are available for appropriately experienced participants who are interested in advancing beyond recreational training.

Our Approach
Individualized Evaluation
We begin by understanding the person, not just the diagnosis or performance goal. This may include the client’s symptoms, medical and injury history, training background, movement, lifestyle, sport, and desired activities.
Clear Planning
Clients receive a clear explanation of what the team identifies, what the recommended next steps are, and how progress will be evaluated.
Targeted Treatment and Training
Treatment and programming are selected according to the individual. Depending on the service, this may include hands-on care, exercise, strength training, movement coaching, recovery work, technical instruction, or sport-specific progression.
Progressive Development
Programs evolve as the client improves. The goal is not simply to reduce symptoms or complete isolated workouts, but to increase the person’s ability to move, train, compete, and participate confidently.
Long-Term Independence
We want clients to understand their bodies, develop useful skills, and become more capable over time. Education, progressive loading, and sustainable training habits are central parts of the process.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Totem a physical therapy clinic or a gym?
Totem is an integrated physical therapy, training, recovery, and performance facility. Clients may visit for physical therapy, personal training, sports performance, massage therapy, online coaching, Muay Thai, or an appropriate combination of services.
Does Totem accept health insurance?
Totem does not directly bill health insurance. Physical therapy is provided on a cash-based, out-of-network basis. This allows the physical therapy team to provide individualized, one-on-one care without structuring treatment around the visit limits or requirements of an insurance company.
Personal training, massage therapy, sports performance, online training, and Muay Thai are self-pay services.
Clients receiving physical therapy may contact their insurance company to ask whether their plan includes out-of-network reimbursement. Totem’s team can answer questions about payment and available documentation.
What is concierge physical therapy?
Concierge physical therapy is a personalized care model that provides more direct access to a Doctor of Physical Therapy, longer and more individualized appointments, and a treatment plan built around the client’s complete goals.
At Totem, the objective is not only to reduce pain. Treatment is intended to help the client restore movement, rebuild strength, and return confidently to daily activity, training, or sport.
How do I know which service to choose?
People currently experiencing pain, injury, or a significant physical limitation will commonly begin with a physical therapy evaluation.
People primarily focused on strength, fitness, or performance may be better suited for personal training, sports performance training, online training, or Muay Thai.
Someone who is uncertain can contact Totem’s team. A team member will learn about the person’s goals and recommend an appropriate starting point.
Does Totem work with athletes?
Yes. Totem works with recreational, youth, high school, strength, martial arts, and competitive athletes. Services may focus on injury rehabilitation, return to sport, strength development, coordination, physical preparation, conditioning, or long-term athletic development.
Do you have to be an athlete to train at Totem?
No. Totem also works with adults who want to become stronger, move better, improve their health, train consistently, or feel more capable in daily life.
Programs are adjusted to the person’s experience and current ability.
Is Totem Muay Thai beginner friendly?

More experienced students can progress into advanced technique, clinch training, sparring, and competition preparation when appropriate.
Does Totem provide massage therapy to minors?
No. Totem’s integrative massage therapy service is currently available only to adults age 18 and older.
Can I use online training outside Pennsylvania?
Yes. Online training is designed for clients who train remotely and can be completed from different locations. Programming is adjusted to the client’s available equipment, goals, schedule, and training experience.
Online training is a coaching and fitness service and is not a substitute for an in-person medical evaluation when one is needed.
How do I get started?
Complete Totem’s contact form or contact the facility by phone or email. A team member will reach out to learn about your goals, current challenges, and preferred service.
The team will then recommend an appropriate evaluation, appointment, program, or introductory step.
